One of the most significant Islamic holidays, Eid al-Adha, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice, is observed by Muslims all over the world as a celebration of the profound act of sacrifice made by Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) and his willingness to offer his son in obedience to Allah (God). 

Eid-al Adha is expected to start at sunset on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, although the exact time may change depending on moon observations in various locations throughout the world. Since the holiday is observed for three days, if Eid-al Adha starts at sunset on June 28, 2023, it will end on July 1, 2023. 

Hajj, the yearly trip to Mecca, concludes on Eid al-Adha. Muslims from all over the world flock to Saudi Arabia for the annual Hajj pilgrimage and the subsequent Eid al-Adha holiday. Thus, people of all social statuses and ages attend the mosque to pray together. Animals, typically lambs, cows, or goats, are sacrificed and then given to the poor to show how important charity and community are on this day. Members of the community celebrate by exchanging gifts, wearing traditional clothes, decorating their homes, and feasting on delectable dishes like biryani, korma, kebabs, and sweets grace the tables, reflecting the diverse culinary heritage of Muslim communities worldwide.

Eid al-Adha is a time for introspection and spiritual reflection. Muslims reflect the characteristics of sacrifice, devotion, and faith, and strive to incorporate these values into their daily lives. As such, this is a time to renew one's devotion to God and pursue spiritual growth.
